Along with our commitment to benefit humanity through 3D technology, Geomagic also aims to eliminate the boredom of hum-drum field trips that dogs students from kindergarten to high school.

Judging by the students' reactions, it was mission accomplished when Warren New Technology High School (Go Knights!) visited our Morrisville, N.C., office on February 26, 2013.

With its project-based learning curriculum, Warren New Tech High School exposes students early to college-level coursework. Geomagic was proud to play a part in their experiential study with a scanning workshop and a Geomagic Freeform/haptics workshop.

It's always fun to see the amazement cross someone's face when they touch a digital object for the first time using our Sensable Phantom haptic devices, as the students were able to do. Geomagic Freeform expert Richard Sandham led them through a demonstration of the haptic device and software, highlighting applications in film and toy design, before the students tried it for themselves. In the scanning lab the students got hands-on experience scanning with the Faro arm and Microsoft Kinect.

We thank the Knights for visiting. Check out the video below to see how it all went.
