In November we announced an exciting multi-year development agreement with Motorola in support of the cell phone maker’s new concept: Project Ara.
Project Ara aims to redefine the cell phone as a functionally and aesthetically customizable device within an open hardware ecosystem. It changes the phone into the ultimate self-expressive device. The system works via a series of modules that insert into the cell phone in whatever configuration best fits the individual. As part of this mission, 3D Systems will support Motorola with the functionality, sustainability, personalization and material versatility that only 3D printing can fulfill.
Project Ara encapsulates two exponential technologies, and through this partnership we will develop the new materials and 3D printing technologies that forever alter each individual’s relationship with his or her phone.
