Burlington, Mass., USA - EnvisionTEC, a maker of computer-aided modeling devices based in Germany, and Z Corporation, provider of color 3D printers based in Massachusetts, today agreed to distribute the EnvisionTEC Ultra™ rapid prototyping system through the sales channels of both companies, under separate brands.
With the agreement, Z Corporation will market the system under its brand as the ZBuilder™ Ultra, and make it available through its global network of distributors in July, 2010. EnvisionTEC will continue to sell the system under its brand as the Ultra™, and continue distribution through its channel partners. The two companies will price the system comparably.

The Ultra™ system builds durable plastic prototypes using a Digital Light Processor (DLP) projector to solidify a light-sensitive, liquid-based photopolymer. Despite costing a fraction of the price of a stereolithography machine, the system builds plastic prototypes that rival the accuracy, material properties, detail, and surface finish of injection-molded parts. Such parts enable engineers to verify designs for form, fit and function prior to full-scale production, eliminating costly modifications to production tooling, and shortening time to market.
