GREDING, Germany, June 14, 2004- Steintek GmbH is offering Geomagic software for its new MobileScan 3D scanner under a recent OEM agreement with Geomagic.

MobileScan3D is a lightweight, portable system that offers high resolution even when measuring very large volumes. A volume of 1500x1500x1500 mm, for example, can be measured within a resolution of 0.02 mm. The system connects easily to a notebook computer via USB or Firewire, and is capable of capturing up to 20 million points.

Geomagic software automatically processes scan data from a physical part to generate highly accurate polygon and parametric surface models. It enables manufacturers to move easily between the physical part and its digital model for design, analysis, manufacturing and inspection, resulting in greater speed, accuracy and reliability.

“Geomagic software complements the ease of use, speed and convenience of the MobileScan3D system,” says Eliana De Santis, president of Steintek GmbH. “The combination is an effective solution for speeding product development, improving CFD and FEA accuracy, and enabling computer-aided inspection applications.

“We are excited about this partnership,” says Jim Johnson, vice president of worldwide sales for Geomagic. “MobileScan3D is an impressive product offering advanced technology, a user-friendly interface, and excellent value.”
