3D Imaging Visionary brings the Current of Humanity into Innovation

MORRISVILLE, N.C., March 8, 2012 – Geomagic®, the leading provider of 3D software for creating and inspecting digital models of physical objects, today announced that CEO, Ping Fu, an expert in 3D imaging technologies, will be presenting at the scheduled TED@SXSW event being held during SXSW, on Sunday March 11, 2012.

"Innovation," says Ping, "is invention applied. At Geomagic, we want innovation to transcend humanity; it is a higher calling of doing business. The industrial revolution increased productivity and raised standards of living. Digitization is the second economy that is vast, quiet, but with far reaching implications: This is the first time that we can extend our mental selves to solve problems that were unsolvable before."

Geomagic was formed on the vision to apply and adapt 3D technology for the benefit of humanity. This goal has seen itself borne out through innovations that have been life-changing for individuals, communities and mankind as a whole. During her presentation, Ping will describe just a few examples of how humanity has been positively affected through innovation using 3D technology: from scanning the space shuttle, to vastly improved medical treatments for newborn babies, even to fashionable prosthetic devices.

“The three examples I will talk about in the presentation demonstrate how innovations can change the world for just one person or an entire nation,” says Ping. “We are in the second decade of the 21st century, and witnessing starting points of more significant change using 3D technology as we move into the future. 3D printing takes on new importance in our world and software technologies are creating the digital economy that will soon take over the physical one. We make intriguing products, creating more jobs, and experiencing more joy in life by integrating the digital and physical economy.”

Innovation and Humanity – an invitation-only TED@SXSW by Ping Fu, starts at 7:00 pm, March 11, 2012, at the Driskill Hotel Ballroom during the SXSW event.
